The people behind the Consortium
Founded at Georgetown University and now expanding into a regional partnership, the Pathways Consortium is led by faculty and guided by an advisory board drawn from institutions across the region.
Partnership for enduring impact
We seek to broaden and sustain access to the program through partnerships with up to 16 PhD-granting political science departments region-wide.
How the Consortium works →Georgetown University developed and hosted the Institute from 2022–2026 with support from a generous anonymous donor, alongside the Security and Preparedness Program of the National Science Foundation, the American Political Science Association, and units across Georgetown University, including the Offices of the President and Provost, the University Office of Graduate Studies, the School of Foreign Service, the College of Arts & Sciences, the Department of Government, the Center for Social Justice, the Center for Research and Fellowships, the Center for New Designs in Learning and Scholarship, the Gender Justice Initiative, the Office for Equal Opportunity Compliance, and Counseling and Psychiatric Services.
Building on this pilot’s success, we are converting the Institute into a shared regional initiative, the Political Science Pathways Consortium. It will bring together 16 PhD-granting universities, each contributing annual dues, in formal partnership with APSA. Georgetown University serves as inaugural lead institution (2025–2029), and hosting responsibilities will rotate among member universities beginning in 2027.
